Nick Leddy Brings Home Stanley Cup Wearing Eden Prairie Eagles Jersey

Fans packed in the arena, and the goal was for everyone to get a photo with Leddy before he had to leave for the next stop on the tour.

While many in the audience wore Blackhawks jerseys in honor of Nick Leddy, he wore his old Eagles jersey in honor of his hometown.

Fans were packed in the arena (Mayor: "Can we squeeze in these last 20 people?"), and the goal was for everyone to get their picture taken with Leddy before he had to leave at 2 p.m. for his next stop at a children's hospital.

The city estimates that 1,400 fans showed up to the Eden Prairie Community Center for the event. Of them, 1,200 were able to get in. Nearly all of the 1,200 got either a photo taken of Leddy or were allowed to take a photo of him with the cup.

Eden Prairie native Leddy, a member of the 2013 NHL champion Chicago Blackhawks, played in all 48 regular season games last season. The 22-year-old former Eden Prairie High School and U of M star signed a two-year extension with Chicago just last week—a deal reportedly worth about $5 million.

As is tradition with the 120-year-old Stanley Cup, each player from the winning team gets to spend a day with the cup.

Leddy is the 30th Minnesotan to get his name on the Stanley Cup. (His name is near the middle).
