Popeyes Location In Eden Prairie Promised By 'Late Summer'

Although the former KFC building on Flying Cloud Drive and Glen Lane in Eden Prairie is still boarded up, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen's corporate office says the restaurant will open by late summer, as well as other locations in Minnesota.

There is currently no definitive opening date.

In January, Eden Prairie Patch reported that KFC was closed. The fast-food chicken restaurant closed its doors at 7995 Glen Lane. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen confirmed it will take over the location.

The exterior of the building was repainted and a Popeyes sign covered the tall KFC sign off at that time. Similar announcements were made about KFC locations in Hopkins, Inver Grove Heights, Richfield and Rosemount.

Popeyes, the second largest fried chicken chain in the country, acquired 14 bankrupt francise KFC locations in Minnesota this past November, despite KFC's attempts to keep them under its brand. A bankruptcy judge cleared the sale of the locations, even though KFC itself backed a higher bid for the Twin Cities restaurants.
