17 Eden Prairie Seniors Among National Merit Semifinalists
Sixteen EPHS and one International School of Minnesota student were named semifinalist in the competition.
Sixteen Eden Prairie High School seniors were recently named semifinalists in the 59th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Additionally, one International School of Minnesota student, Lauren E. Michael, was selected.
The list of semifinalists was released on Sept. 11 and outlines the students still in the running for 8,000 2014 National Merit Scholarships—worth about $35 million—set to be awarded next spring.
Approximately 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, with more than half of those finalists ultimately winning a National Merit Scholarship.

The 16,000 semifinalists were selected from a group of 1.5 million students who entered the competition.
