Swimmer Who Trains in EP Cleans Up in Summer Competition
Madison Rundell placed high in several events at championship meets.
Maple Grove swimmer Madison Rundell may still be too young for the high school team, but the 12-year-old already making waves.
- First in the 100-meter breaststroke,
- First in the 200-meter breaststroke,
- Second in the 200-meter freestyle, second in the 400-meter freestyle,
- Fourth in the 50-meter breaststroke and
- Fourth in the 200-meter individual medley
She also placed third overall in her age group for individual points.
In addition, she finished second as part of Team Foxjet’s 400-meter medley relay team, third as part of the team’s 800-meter freestyle relay team and fourth as part of the team’s 400-meter freestyle relay team.

She also finished high at several races in the USA Swimming Central Zone Long Course Swimming Championship that took place Aug. 2 to Aug. 4 in Topkea, KS—competing against top-ranked swimmers from Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Midwestern Swimming, Missouri Valley, North Dakota, Oklahoma, the Ozarks, South Dakota and Wisconsin. In the 11/12 age group, her finishes include:
- First in the 200-meter breast stroke,
- Fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke,
- Fifth in the 200-meter freestyle,
- Fifth in the 200-meter freestyle,
- Seventh in the 200-meter individual medley and
- 12th in the 50-meter freestyle
She also finished fifth as part of the 400-meter medley relay team.
