State Hockey: Eden Prairie Girls Take Fourth

Eden Prairie senior goalie Mckenzie Johnson had 21 saves in the game and 43 for the tournament.

The Eden Prairie girls hockey team lost to Lakeville North in the state Class AA consolation game for third place on Saturday afternoon.

Lakeville North beat Eden Prairie 3-2.

The number four seed Lakeville North came back strong after the record-breaking loss last night to defeat No. 2 seeded Eden Prairie, 3-2, and earn the third place trophy. The Lakeville North Panthers were led by senior wing Megan Skelly. Skelly scored the first goal of the game and also an empty net goal late in the third period. Teammate junior wing Maddie McGlade rounded out the scoring for the Panthers. Senior Lakeville North goaltender, Cassie Alexander, had 26 stops in the game. Alexander had 98 saves in the tournament, just seven short of tying the state tournament record. Eden Prairie senior goalie Mckenzie Johnson had 21 saves in the game, and 43 for the tournament.

The state championship game of Hill-Murray vs. Minnetonka is still ahead.

With six overtimes, Lakeville North and Minnetonka played the longest game in state tournament history. Minnetonka finally won 4-3.
