Eden Prairie Sends Several Swimmers to State

The Eagles finished second at the Section 6AA meet.

Nine Eden Prairie swimmers qualified individually for the state championship, as well as three relay teams, following strong performances at the Section 6AA swimming and diving meet Thursday through Saturday.

Eden Prairie finished second at the meet—tallying 476 points to first place Minnetonka’s 515.

In all, nine swimmers qualified for state individually.

Sophomore Bre Thorne

  • 100-yard breaststroke, eighth, 1:08.20

Freshman Amy Harjes

  • 100-yard breaststroke, seventh, 1:07.84

The following relay teams also qualified

  • 200-yard medley relay: Third, 1:48.00 (Rachel Baker, Jennie Novak, Bre Thorne, Marla Albanese)
  • 200-yard freestyle relay: Third, 1:38.51 (Sarah Coolidge, Marla Albanese, Freshman Blair MacGibbon, Kira Zubar)
  • 400-yard freestyle relay: Second, 3:31.78 (Bre Thorne, Kira Zubar, Sarah Coolidge, Jennie Novak)
The state championship takes place Nov. 18 through Nov. 20 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
