Hennepin County Works With West Metro Cities, Legal Aid on Fair Housing

Hennepin County and the cities of Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka and Plymouth are partnering with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid to address fair housing issues, commissioners voted at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The effort provides funding for:

• Intake and resolution for 60 housing discrimination complaints,
• Outreach services to six organizations serving recent immigrants and hour-long fair housing training for three of the organizations and
• Fair housing training to one organization serving persons with disabilities.  

The project qualifies Hennepin County for Housing and Urban Development entitlement funds, including the Community Development Block Grant Program, by demonstrating its commitment to fair housing.
