Sunday Police Chase Leads to Arrest of Suspect in Up to 60 Burglaries

Eden Prairie police arrested a 41-year-old following a surveillance operation in Ramsey County.

A chase Sunday led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man thought to be responsible for as many as 60 business burglaries, including several in Eden Prairie, the city announced Monday afternoon.

The chase started when Eden Prairie police conducted a surveillance operation that led to a pursuit in Ramsey County.

Officers took the man into custody on suspicion of burglary and fleeing a police officer.

Police are continuing to investigate details around the case before referring it to the Ramsey County Attorney for charging.

Over the past few weeks, Eden Prairie has been hit by a rash of business burglaries with similar characteristics. There were at least eight break-ins between Jan. 15 and Jan. 24 in which police found pry marks on the doors. In most cases, the burglars had left behind valuable items and took cash or nothing at all.

Eden Prairie has so far said it’s too early to determine whether the burglaries are related. The city declined to specify which burglaries the 41-year-old is suspected in or whether they’re connected to the burglaries over the past few weeks. The county attorney will determine in what incidents charges should be brought.

The city also declined to provide further information about the chase itself. 5 Eyewitness News reports that the suspect was arrested in Shoreview.
