Thunderstorm, Hail Hits Eden Prairie

Hail came down so large that it broke an Eden Prairie Police squad car window.

During the storm before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, hail came down so large that it broke an Eden Prairie Police squad car window. 

Excel Energy reported thousands of outages in the area, including a cluster of 2,092 homes in Eden Prairie. The storms came at a bad time for the 150 neighborhoods in Eden Prairie celebrating the Night to Unite with block parties. As of Wednesday at 11 a.m., only a few homes in Eden Prairie were left without power, according to Excel.

Quarter size hail and 60 mph wind gusts were reported by the National Weather Service, which also reported that hail damage to vehicles and damage to roofs, siding and trees occurred.
