Permit to Purchase Guns

• It was a higher than average week for permits to purchase firearms in Eden Prairie. On Monday, Dec. 17 there were 12 applications submitted to the city. The increase was not directly linked to anything specific.

In 2011, the city received 337 applications and so far in 2012 has received 539 applications. In 2011, the city averaged 28 permit applications per month. In November of this year, there was also a huge spike of 77 applications for the month.

Permit to Carry a Firearm Permits are obtained through the county sheriff's office. 

Business Burglaries

• An attempted burglary occurred sometime between Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 8:30 am. at Kristen Nelson Studios (8905 Aztec Drive). There was a pry mark on the door to the business but nothing inside was taken.

• A burglary occurred Dec. 13 at Dick’s Sports Barber (8353 Crystal View Road). The business is on the second floor of a commercial buiding. Fresh pry marks were found on both the exterior door and interior barber shop door. After breaking in, the burglar stole $350 out of the cash drawer.

• A burglary occurred sometime between Dec. 15 at 2:30 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 8 a.m. at Healthy Training (6585 Eden Vale Blvd). Pry marks were found on the door frame and two windows were shattered to gain access. Owners said $423 was taken from the cash drawer. There are no suspects yet in these burglaries.
