Pit Bull Attacks, Kills Small Dog at Eden Prairie Dog Park

The owner of the slain dog is hoping the city will now create separate areas for large and small dogs, according to Fox 9.

A Yorkshire terrier bled to death Monday after being attacked by a Pit bull at an Eden Prairie dog park.

According to Fox 9, the Yorkie, named Winston, was attacked at Eden Prairie's Flying Cloud Dog Park Monday evening. By the time the dog made it to the animal hospotal down the road, he had bled out. Winston's owner, Tessie Brandbury, detailed the traumatic incident for Fox 9:

"We didn't even get within the gate, and he wasn't even off the leash," Tessie Brandbury recalled. "A pit bull grabbed him by the stomach and by the neck and shook him around like a chew toy."

The owners of the Pit Bull, named Diamond, admittedly left the park after the incident fearing for the safety of their pup, according to Fox 9. However, Diamond's owners did report the incident to police after leaving.

Brandbury is now hoping that the city creates separate areas for large and small dogs at the park, which is common at many dog parks. According to Fox 9, the city had previously discussed doing this, however, it was determined that there was not enough space.

Police are still investigating the incident.
