Man Charged With Stalking After Sending Black Roses to Woman

A released prisoner is back in jail after allegedly sending a woman he previously assaulted a dozen black roses with a note that read, “Til Death Do You Part?”

The unidentified woman told police Aug. 10 that 36-year-old Nathan Allen Weets, of Pipestone, had sent her numerous threatening e-mails, Eden Prairie Detective James Lindgren wrote in charging documents filed last week.

In the e-mails, Weets told the woman that she was his and shouldn’t try to run away and that it would be fun to chase her across the country, “as well as other demented comments clearly meant to intimidate and harass the victim,” Lindgren wrote in the complaint.

Weets was convicted of second-degree assault, a felony, and interference with a 911 call in December 2006.

He faces a felony charge of stalking in connection with the most recent accusations. If convicted, he could be sentenced to as many as 10 years in prison and fined up to $20,000.

Weets, who’s being held in Hennepin County jail on $20,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2.
