Elderly Woman's Home Broken Into: Eden Prairie Police Blotter

Burglary of Dwelling

• The home of an 85-year-old Eden Prairie woman on the 8000 block of Flying Cloud Drive was broken into on April 18 sometime between 9:50 a.m. and noon. The homeowner said she left with the house locked and garage door closed. She arrived home to find molding from the front door on the floor and pry marks on the door frame near the dead bolt. 

A dresser in one of the bedrooms and file cabinets in a closet were open. A GPS unit that had been housed in a drawer was found out of place on the floor. Nothing was found to be missing.

• On April 22 between 7:10 a.m. and 8 a.m., someone entered an open garage on the 8000 block of Knollwood Drive in Eden Prairie. The person rummaged through cars owned by a 53-year-old man from Eden Prairie. A cell phone and change were stolen in the amount of $100.

• Sometime between 2 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. on April 20, a BMW parked in front of a residence on the 8000 block of Colombine Road was damaged. A 43-year-old man reported that his car had been scratched, the rear antenna was missing and the tail light was broken. He didn't have an idea of who might have done it, and the case is inactive due to lack of suspects.

Theft

• On April 22 at 7:33 p.m., a 20-year-old Hopkins woman was arrested and cited for misdemeanor theft after being pulled over by police on Eden Prairie Drive. Staff at Walmart reported a theft in progress and gave police a description of the car. When pulled over, police asked the woman why she thought she had been pulled over, and she responded "Because of the thing at Walmart?" The suspect paid for $150 worth of items before leaving Walmart, but police found three containers of makeup and nail polish that she had not paid for in her possession. The items were returned to the store.
