A regular selection of incidents drawn from Eden Prairie police files.

Theft

  • Someone took $100 worth of copper pipe from an exterior cooling unit on the Eden Prairie Art Center, damaging parts of the unit in the process. The theft happened sometime between 8 a.m. Nov. 1 and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19.
  • A 46-year-old man told police that someone stole his 1997 Honda Civic while it was parked on the 17000 block of Fruitwood Lane sometime between midnight and 7 a.m. Nov. 16. Officers found a Honda Accord nearby that had been reported stolen from St. Paul. It’s not known whether the two stolen cars are connected, but police say it’s common for thieves to exchange one stolen car for another. The stolen Civic has Minnesota license plate VAP-950.
  • A 38-year-old Minneapolis woman came to Walmart’s attention after she was caught on a surveillance camera putting a DVD in her shopping cart and returning it for cash. She left the store without trying to pay, pushing a shopping cart with a car seat and large trash can with the lid on top. Inside the trash can, there were dog treats, deodorant, cell phone chargers, four necklaces and wash cloths. The stolen items were worth $348.29 total. Officers ticketed her for shoplifting. She also had an outstanding warrant from Washington County.

Drugs

  • Police found marijuana in a 19-year-old Chanhassen man car after stopping him at near the intersection of Briarglen Road and Dell Road for a loud muffler. Officers could smell marijuana in the car, and the man said he had a pipe in a center console. A search turned up a glass pipe and 2.3 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag.
