New Toppers Francisees Look at Eden Prairie for Potential Location

Two new Toppers Pizza franchisees have named Eden Prairie as a potential location for the pizza pie shop.

According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, Barry and Jennifer Friends said they have purchased five Toppers franchises and are looking to open their first one in either Eden Prairie, Chanhassen or Maple Grove.

The Whitewater, WI-based company currently has eight Minnesota locations, with three in Minneapolis and one each in Bloomington, Burnsville, Mankato, Rochester and St. Paul, according to the business journal.

Owners Hope to Add More Recreation Activities to Champion's Hall

Eden Prairie's latest attraction, Champion's Hall, is hoping to add more to its grounds in the coming months.

Champion's Hall, located at 7000 Washington Ave. S., is already home to the 25,000 square-foot AirMaxx Trampoline Park & Fun Center and seven indoor volleyball courts.

"It is our hope that this facility over the course of the next few months will become a centerpiece attraction for the southwest metro area," said AirMaxx CFO Mike Balfanz, who is also a doctor of chiropractic.

Potential leasees for the other spaces include basketball courts, a consignment sporting goods store, rock climbing, curling, dance studio, fitness/personal training/yoga studio, golf simulators/proshop and gun range/training center.

New Horizon Collecting Books for Local Nonprofit

The Eden Prairie New Horizon Academy daycare, 6350 Point Chase Rd., is holding a children's book drive to benefit the nonprofit organization Reach Out And Read.

According to EdenPrairieNews.com, Reach Out and Read serves 4 million children and their families annually. Books collected at the center will be donated to area hospitals and clinics that serve families in need, including Children's Hospitals and Clinics.

The collection runs through Feb. 28.

Office Max Announces Plans to Purchase Office Depot

Office Depot will buy OfficeMax in a deal announced Wednesday.

The two office supply giants announced the signing of a “definitive merger” today intended to “create a stronger, more efficient global provider better able to compete in the rapidly changing office solutions industry.”

Office Depot has a store in Eden Prairie, located at 11609 Leona Road.

There is also an OfficeMax in Eden Prairie, located at 8595 Columbine Road.
