Popeyes Will Move Into KFC Location

The Louisiana chicken fast-food restaurant confirmed they are coming to Eden Prairie "in the future."

KFC in Eden Prairie is now closed. The fast-food chicken restaurant recently closed its doors at 7995 Glen Lane.

On Monday afternoon, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen confirmed it will take over the location. The company says it will open "in the future," and did not provide a specific date.

The exterior of the building has been repainted and a Popeyes sign covers the tall former KFC sign off Flying Cloud Drive.

Popeyes, the second largest fried chicken chain in the country, acquired 14 bankrupt francise KFC locations in Minnesota—including Richfield's—this past November, despite KFC's attempts to keep them under its brand. A bankruptcy judge cleared the sale of the locations, even though KFC itself backed a higher bid for the Twin Cities restaurants, according to a Star Tribune article.

Information about whether or not the Eden Prairie store was part of that acquisition was not immediately available. The Star Tribune story did not specifically mention Eden Prairie.
