Foss Swim School Hosts Air National Guard Water Survival Training

Airmen practiced what to do if they ever have to ditch their aircraft over water.

Foss Swim School in Eden Prairie hosted classes on Friday that were a bit different from the usual swimming lessons.

The 109th Airlift Squadron used the school’s pool for the unit’s annual water survival training. The Minnesota Air National Guard airmen learned about the equipment and processes they would need if they have ever have to ditch their aircraft over water, according to a Department of Defense release. Lessons included survival raft and kit usage, parachute canopy disentanglement and parachute riser drag training.
