University of Wisconsin-River Falls softball

Hayley Buchanan, of Eden Prairie, MN, is on the 2013 team.

Carleton College softball

Claire Willeck, a resident of Eden Prairie, Minn., is a member of the Carleton softball team for the 2013 season. Willeck is a graduate of Eden Prairie High School and is currently a sophomore at Carleton.

Carleton is coached by Amy Erickson, who is in her 16th season as the Knights' head coach. Carleton is a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and NCAA Division III.

Lawrence University Production of "Grey Gardens"

Josh Eidem, son of Jeffrey and Kris Eidem, Eden Prairie, appeared in three recent (April 12-13) performances of Lawrence University's production of "Grey Gardens," a musical based on the 1975 film of the same name that documented the squalid lifestyle of Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, reclusive socialite relatives of former U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Eidem portrayed the ill-fated Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Jr. in the production's first act and Jerry, a young friend of the family, in the second act. He is a 2011 graduate of Eden Prairie High School.

Phi Kappa Phi

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to announce that Jennifer Howison of Eden Prairie, Minn., was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi--the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Howison is pursuing a degree at Westmont College.

Howison is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. 

Upper Iowa University scholarship

Upper Iowa University recently held its 28th annual Scholarships and Awards Recognition Banquet and awarded 116 scholarships to students across the University. 

Marissa Gearou of Eden Prairie was awarded the Mike McCready Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 2000 to honor Mike McCready, former head wrestling coach and athletic director at Upper Iowa University. This scholarship is awarded annually to a physical education major with a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

University of Wisconsin-Stout research poster

Daniel Jay of Eden Prairie, Minn., represented University of Wisconsin-Stout with a poster presentation at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research held April 11-13 at UW-La Crosse. Jay majoring in Applied Social Science presented ORAL Presentation: Fractured: A statistical Analysis of the Frac Sand Mine Industry's Affect on the People of the Chippewa Valley. Jay's research adviser was David "Chris" Ferguson.
